Yes, in my opinion it is very important that the jurors agree on a verdict. This formula allows for debate and further consideration of the facts that have been presented. The jury system is by no means perfect, but a consensus is integral. Too many innocent people have been convicted throughout history, irregardless of the requirement that the verdict had to be unanimous.
