Parson’s represents unquestioned and ignorant loyalty to the party. Tom is a heavy, sweaty, simple man whom Winston despises for his unquestioning acceptance of everything the Party tells him. His family is typical of how the party dominates every part of family life. Parents are afraid of their children. The children are aggressive and taught to spy on their parents.
