How have the events happened differently than Marley had predicted?

Scrooge actually changes by the end of the play. He decides to hold Christmas in his heart everyday. He is friend to everyone and helps the Cratchits bring up Tiny Tim.Scrooge is able to avoid the same fate as Marley.
