When, where, and how does the Spirit of Christmas Past appear?

Scrooge is in his bedroom. Scrooge thinks it is well past 2:00 am but spirit time is different. Suddenly, ghost of Christmas past appears. A flash of light comes in the room, his bed-curtains are drawn aside, and the figure of a small old man appears.
