A Doll's House
In Act 2, What objections does Torvald raise about employing Krogstad in his bank? How do his objections reveal the shallowness of his character?
Act 2
Act 2
Torvald says that Krogstad is an embarrassment and that he cannot work with him any longer. He explains that they are on a first-name basis only because they went to school together and that this -familiarity humiliates him. When Nora calls Torvald’s reasoning petty, he becomes upset and sends off a letter dismissing Krogstad. He then goes into his study. This reason is certainly a shallow one. It has nothing to do with Krogstad's performance more than it has to do with Torvald's shallow and petty personal problems.
