Is Henry's desertion from the army cowardly or courageous?. Why ?
Is Henry's decison to desert so he can save his life and return to Catherine brave or cowardly?

Henry's desertion from the army can be seen two ways. There is, of course, the obvious sense of desertion from the army as the ultimate in cowardly acts. Desertion can also be seen as heroic. Henry certainly faces courtmartial and death if found. Catherine says there are different types of courage, "The brave dies perhaps two thousand deaths if he’s intelligent."
Just to add. Henry really didn't have much of a choice in the end, he was about to be shot.
