Why do you believe that the parents made a point of doing nice things for the school?

The school was a plantation school, a place where everyone knew everyone else. The parents appeciated the school and attempted to do all they could for the students. It was in everyone's best interests that the children be as successful as possible. The school board was remiss in making sure the school had what it needed, and Grant was overwhelmed. People did what they could to make it all work.
