A Long Way Gone

I think the resolution is Ishmael coming to terms, more or less, with his past. He speaks eloquently at the UN in New York about the plight of child soldiers. Eventually Laura Simms adopts him and he relocates to the United States, where he completes his secondary education and eventually attends college.
