Courage is the ability to move on from your circumstances and start fresh regardless of the things you've experienced. Ishmael and his friends do what is necessary to survive and lose themselves in the process. The decision to start over and move beyond the killing machines they've become at the hands of others took courage. For Ishmael to hold his head up and come to the United States to speak about his experiences took courage..... and most of all...... to relive it all in the pages of this novel took courage. In his place, I don't know that I would have the courage to relive his experiences.
