between chapter 8-12 how has the main character changed so far ? or how do you think they will change?

Beah has become much more self-reliant out of necessity for survival. He already lost much of his innocence. He is weary of strangers and always on the lookout for danger. Beah's previous care free attitude has become much more guarded and "mature".
