You might relate this quote to gang cultures..... unfortunately, this mindset does encapsulate some aspects of American culture.

I'd say this is true in a circumstance where a family has a gun for protection. I do believe in gun rights...... but this quote pertains to rebel fighters, who I would compare to America gang violence. Yes, this could be true, but not in the same context of the novel.
