I think when killing others is the kids' only option for survival, the act becomes routine the more they do it. The psychology of being interned and manipulated by adults with guns would have been quite harrowing. Children can be easily manipulated. This is one reason why child soldiers are popular with these small armies.The adults in these armies provided the boys with their only sense of security. I think killing is justifiable under certain conditions. Beah's situation is one of them:he really had no other choice than to obey the adults with guns.
