Is Ishmael reliable in narrating? Why or Why not?

Although Ishmael has been criticized for factual points in his narration, he seems to be reliable. He was a child so much of the story has to be seen in this context. There is little for him to be biased about. The story feels organic too his experience . It is also difficult to make this stuff up!
