What kind of an adventurous journey is this?

I am not sure this is an adventure - these young boys become soldiers at a very young age and are forced to commit crimes of war that are awful. Their drug addiction becomes something that they have to overcome; they have to deal with the ways in which their lives have changed and the ways in which they have moved from innocent children to hideous adults. When they are ultimately rescued by UNICEF, they face another journey to deal with their past actions in the horrible war.
