Mama and Walter have opposite views on what to do with the insurance money. Walter wants to open a liquor store and Mama disapproves of liquor and making money from liquor. It is a bad idea. Walter's partner in the venture is dubious at best. A liquor store also oppresses the community by fostering alcoholism and all the problems that come with it.
