Walter becomes a stronger version of the man he wants to become. He turns down Mr. Lindner's money and tells him that the family will move into the new neighborhood. His mother and wife are proud of him and the reader/viewer is left with a feeling of hopefulness for the future. The family is now moving forward and some of their dreams may now be realized.
