Initially Walter dreams of getting rich quickly. He invests Mama's $6500 in a half baked liquor store scheme. After loosing all the money, Walter becomes more realistic and level headed. He stands up for the right things. After the deal with Willy falls through, he decides to give in and take Karl’s offer. Walter stands up for his family’s right to be in any neighbourhood. Walter helps his family move out of the apartment.
