What does Mama mean when she tells Walter that if he takes Lindner's money he will have nothing left inside?

Mama means that taking Lindner's money is a betrayal to his family and to all black Americans. Lindner wants to buy their new house to keep the neighborhood white. It Walter accepts his money, Walter is also accepting that blacks are beneath whites and that his family's future can be bought off by a white man.
