hysterical
The word "hysterical" is only used once in the play and appears at the end of Act II, Scene II. The text reads as follows;
WALTER'S voice has risen in pitch and hysterical promise and on the last line he life Travis high.
In this context, hysterical would be defined as overemotional or out of control.
