What external conflict does walter and ruth have going on
Act 2
Act 2
In her early thirties, Ruth is exceptionally pretty, but is aging before her time because of her impoverished surroundings. During her 11 years of marriage, she often bore the responsibility of keeping the household running, in addition to working as a domestic servant. Ruth thinks Walter is not engaged with the family or responsible enough with money. Walter feels pressured by Ruth and feels he cannot measure up to the man she wants him to be.
