A Raisin in the Sun
Why didn't Beneatha want to become a doctor anymore?
Why not
Why not
Beneatha has decided that people (humanity) isn't worth the trouble. After Walter loses the money he mother set aside for her schooling, she loses her idealism. Beneatha gives up on her dream because she has given up on people.
"Because it doesn’t seem deep enough, close enough to what ails mankind! It was a child’s way of seeing things—or an idealist’s."
A Raisin in the Sun
First of all, I just wanted to point out that Jill made a grammar mistake that is just killing me from inside... It's people aren't NOT isn't, people is plural! Second of all, even for those of u who didnt read the book, Jill's answer is nonsense! " she gave up on her hard work and dream because she gave up on people"??!!!!!!! wtf Jill, I have a huge feeling u have absolutely noooo idea wat ur talking about. Beneatha gave up because Walter lost her college money. He gave it to his friend(in order to invest in a liquor store)and his friend ran away with it. Beneatha thought that with no money, all her chances of becoming a doc would go down the drain as well.
My brain
Please. both of you are quite brainless. First of all Beneatha is frustrated with Walter. She knows that schooling costs alot and doesn't think she can become a doctor without the money. She thinks that money is the one thing that ails mankind. This relates to the play’s theme of money being the thing that supports everyone and is the “root” of their life. And please miss Jill use proper grammar when trying to give someone an answer. And Joe its "what" not "wat" u nitwitted nincompoop turd. Ty and follow me on IG @monikaunknow4
