A Room of One's Own
What encouragement does Woolf offer her audience?
how does she encourage women?
how does she encourage women?
I think much of her encouragement comes in chapter 6. Woolf Encourages women to seek their intellectual and material freedom—to seek that room with a lock on the door and the money to pay for it. Make it possible for the next Shakespeare’s sister to come along. A room of one's own thus takes on the simple meaning of a little independence away from the male dominated system. Woolf suggests a little economic independence would go a long way to foster incredible things in women.
