On page 22 the narrtor states that Finny " pressed is advantages because he saw that Mr Prud'hommes was won over in spite of himself. The master was slipping frm his official position momentarily and it was just a possibile if Phineas pressed hard enough that there might be a flow of simple unregulated friendliness between them, and such flow were one of Finnys reasons for living

What does he mean? How is Finny being characterized here?

Finny is being characterized as a salesman. He is ready, willing, and able to win people over, even when they don't want to be won. Finny is a charmer.... the challege of winning people over is his reason for living.
