Do you think Finny wnated Gene to go on the trip to the beach for any ulterior motive or was it just for innocent adventure?

Finny had no ulterior motive for going to the beach except for the fact he wanted to go. Had Gene refused the invitation, I think Finny would probably have gone alone.
