One morning after chapel, Brinker pulls Gene aside to talk to him about Finny. What is Brinker's main point during the conversation? What does he seem to be insinuating at the end of it?

Brinker asserts that he knows Gene caused Finny's accident, and since Finny has to realize that he is crippled for life, they might as well make sure he understands that fact. Gene doesn't agree, and lets Brinker make his point.
