Tourists are described as marveling at the "simple" way the local people live.... often struggling and in poverty. In the meantime, the locals are often barred from holding better jobs. She also notes that the locals find the tourists' invasion into their lives.... the way they observe their lives as rude...... the way they envy the way the tourists are entertained by observing the plight of others.
