for my drama assesment i have been asked to explain teh quote " we are all civilized people which means we are all savages at heart but odserving a few amenities of civilized behaviour"
It means that underneath everyones normal cilivised behaviour, we are just basic savages for example in Stanley's case he is the stereotypical alpha-male, sort of like a caveman.

i think one must also mention that stanley comes across very overtly animalistic and that this is contrasted with blanches savagery, which appears in a much more disguised, yet no less viscious form
