Why do you think Mitch and Blanche's date was at an amusement park? How does this add to the idea of illusion vs reality?
Around 2 a.m., Blanche and Mitch return to the Kowalski flat after their date. Mitch carries a large plastic statuette that indicates their date took place at an amusement park. Mitch and Blanch's relationship is very much an illusion because Blanche manipulates the relationship. Mitch attempts to be honest but Blanche tries to be someone she is not.
because both of their lovers died young and an amusement park is seen as childish and made for younger people, this adds to illusion vs reality because blanche wants to add to this young persona that she created for herself and she wants to find love like her past again and and mitch is open and truthful which makes him a symbol of reality
