Scene 9 What does Blanch hear in her head and what is the effect on her?

Blanche hears the "Varaouviana" Polka in her head, and the shot of a gun. She is remembering Allan's suicide. The musics effect makes her lose the reality of the moment, she drifts in and out of the present and the past.
