What is Blanche doing while Stanley and Stella discuss Belle Reve? What could this represent?

Blanche is bathing while the two discuss Belle Reve. I do not see evidence of symbolism here, unless we look at the bath as a cleansing ritual.... Blanche washing away her responsibility for losing the family home.
