Which side is true? Who's a better parent? Jalil or Nana?

There are two side to what Nana and Jalil were like. It mentioned (spoiler) how Jalil abandoned Nana after she was pregnant, even not helping her when she went to labor for two days. Then (spoiler) Jalil said that it wasn't true. That he was there after Mariam was born in under an hour. And he even got a doctor to help. And which story is true? Also who's a better parent? It's confusing.
