what is the reason why the angel has fallen?

Pelayo believes that the angel has come to take his child to heaven (the child has been very sick). This would make him an angel on a mission rather than a fallen angel. I've always believed the angel's weakness was a direct result of giving the child strength to become better. Once he regains his strength........ he flies away.
