The arrival of the cousins turns the family upside down. The family members have different opinions on getting ahead.... on their ultimate goals. America is supposed to be a haven, but as Eddie already knows.... the work is difficult, and as Beatrice notes..... she hopes her cousins can find work.

Rodolph and Marco bring other changes as well. Marco is interested in assisting his family.... providing for his wife and children. Rodolpho wants to make some quick money, return home, and buy a motocycle. Their presence brings life to Eddie's home, as well. Suddenly, Eddie loses his firm hand. Rodolpho is flirting with Catherine, and Catherine is enjoying it. Eddie worries because of his influence over Catherine, and also because he believes that Rodolpho will marry Catherine to gain citizenship.
