Eddie has an inappropriate desire for his niece Catherine, this desire and inability to act on it (suppression of his feelings) causes him to become more than a little unhinged. He transfers his frustration into an all consuming anger, which is directed at the characters of Rodolpho and Marco.
Eddie is jealous of Rodolpho's relationship with Catherine and mistrusts Rodolpho's reasons for their engagement. He goes so far as to have immigration arrest the two men. So in essence, his opinion of the two men is very low; he mistrusts them and believes them to be deceitful........... all based on jealousy and an overwhelming desire to possess his own niece. Miller created quite the tangled web here.
