A Vindication of the Rights of Woman
What does wollstoncraft mean when she says that women are "taken out their sphere or duties"?What happens to them when they are taken out of their sphere or duties?
Idk
Idk
It is important to consider the whole quote to put it in context,
"cultivating their understandings, they are taken out of their sphere of duties, and made ridiculous and useless when the short lived bloom of beauty is over..."
I believe she is saying that women sacrifice their minds (not educated) by fulfilling notions of beauty imposed by males. When their youthful beauty has passed, they have little worth in the eyes of a patriarchal society.
