Dan is Sylvia’s uncle and Mrs. Tilley’s only living son. We are not completely sure if Dan is alive. Dan left home many years ago to explore the American West but has not kept in contact. Mrs. Tilley thinks that both Dan and Sylvia share a deep personal connection to wildlife: they both feel at peace in nature.
