What does Calvin mean when he says that the children in school like him for all the wrong reasons?

Calvin means that even though he well liked at school because he gets good grades and is good at sports, he doesn't have any real friends. People like him for the things he's good at, but they don't like him for the right reasons; they don't like him for himself.
