When meg puts on the strange glasses from mrs.who,what ability is she given?

It was similar to what's in the book and also why I like the newest Wrinkle in time movie. With the glasses on Meg can see the 'stairs' that lead to the place where Meg's father is. The reason I like it in the newest movie is that the 'stairs' are actually made of and are surrounded by equations taught by Meg's father to her.
