Is Randy believable? Why/why not?

I think he is believable. He is one of those archetypal "slackers" who rises to the occasion when the worst happens. He doesn't covet money or let other petty issues get in the way when the world is crumbling. Serious situations can bring out the best in people like Randy but the situation has to mean something to him.
