In the poem's conclusion, the lock’s final ascension into heaven is the absurd, but none-the-less, allegorical, and Pope infers that the lock of hair is too precious to remain on earth. He infers that that humanity does not deserve to be so “blest” as to possess it. This illustrates Pope's view that the amount of emphasis placed on beauty in society is beyond ridiculous.
