Quinn states, “On Friday nights, there were only two things on my mind: getting the hell out of the house and finding the party.” Why do his responsibilities at home make him feel such a need to escape?

Quinn's father was killed in Afghanistan, and his mother works long hours. As a result, Quinn is responsible for looking out for his younger brother. In addition to his responsibilities as home, Quinn also feels pressured to get good grades and to excel at athletics. Friday nights allow Quinn a bit of freedom from his responsibilities.... an oppportunity to hang out.... to be a kid.
