Was Quinn’s mother right in saying he was thinking selfishly, and not thinking about the consequences for the rest of his family?

Quinn's mother likes to keep up appearances..... to make herself and her family appear different than they actually are. She genuinely cares about her son, but she has difficulty separating caring for Quinn and caring about his reputation. She also has a tendency to use his father's absence against him..... consistently bringing up what his father would think if he was alive.
