Why does Quinn feel fear of black people or has a hard time seeing Paul in the role as a monster or as out of line?

Quinn's relationship to Paul is similar to that of brothers.... Paul has looked out for Quinn and been an important part of his life since the death of his father. As a result, it is difficult for Quinn to see Paul as the abusive, racist police officer... a monster.
