How does Miller build tension between Ann and Kate?

On page 77-78 (in my book)

(77)Ann: What?

Mother: I don't know. Something nice.

.....

(78) Ann: No, Kate.

I need to write an analytical essay on this (600-1000 words) and i really need help on my thesis. What good points can I make and any good quotes from those pages?

I think the fact that, in Kate's eyes, Ann is "Larry's girl" fuels much of the conflict. Kate is still delusional as to the "possibility" of her son being alive. Watching Ann getting on with her life ruins her dilution.
