All Quiet on the Western Front
All Quiet on the Western Front // How does Paul's clasmate Mittelstaedt taunt Kantorek? do you think this is justified?
Why or why not?
Why or why not?
This happens in chapter 7. Mittelstaedt torments their former schoolmaster Kantorek after he joins as a reserve soldier. He is a pretty bad soldier at that. It looks like he is humiliating Kantorek but really the old teacher deserves it. Kantorek is responsible for sending the boys into the hell that is the front. He filled them with delusions of grandeur and patriotism. War turned out to be hell and Kantorek deserved abuse for misleading impressionable boys.
