Luis’ son Ramiro had recently found himself in trouble and a contract was put out on him (S.O.S. meaning smash on sight).

After spending a few months in a psychiatric hospital, Ramiro was put in an educational/ employment plan. Luis implemented a hands on approach, in order to make sure Ramiro's teenage years gave him a sense of empowerment, but just as importantly.... an education. He wanted him to have "complete literacy: The ability to participate competently and confidently in any level of society one chooses."
