An Inspector Calls is set in 1912, and was written in the mid 1940's. why do you think it is still popular today, at the beginning of the 21st century?

This story is essentially a crime/mystery type plot which people generally enjoy. It also examines the theme of socio-economic class, which is a theme that many people today still find accessible. There are many subtleties to the characters, which adds to the "who done it?" motif. I always reading it like playing the popular board game Clue, except with more subtleties. 

Extreme Capitalists like birling still exist between us today and there may not be much of a class difference now but still in some parts of the world, the working class are treated horribly. Plus not everyone feels that they are responsible for the society and this play really changes your perspectives on a lot of things, and its very relatable. Like would you help people less fortunate, or would you rather buy the best phone out there? unfortunately the majority of the world could do the second option so much hasnt really changed and thus this topic still says as interesting as it was when it was first written.
