Every animal on the farm is different. Some animals are blind followers and will do whatever Napoleon says, whereas other animals rebel against napoleon.
In this chapter particular animals are becoming aware, that after changing the 7 commandments, their life change dramatically. Hens started to rebel after they found out that their own eggs are going to be taken. It leads to their death by dogs, but really, by Napoleon's hands.
Also, I found devastating that part, where Napoleon killed every animal who was accused of meeting with Snowball or Jones.
