Anne Bradstreet: Poems

upon the burning of our house

comment on bradstreet's use of favorite Puritan concepts such as "sufficient" and "dwelling places". why does she use this latter term instead of "house'? How does it foreshadow her conclusion?

Puritan's felt the only thing permanent was God's own salvation. Everything else is just temporary and important only to sustain life. Any luxury or extravagances are considered sinful as they take away from God's authority over the person.
