Share the effects of the Cuthbert's decision of adoption?

The Cuthberts initially chose adoption in order to help a child, as well as themselves. Matthew and Marilla thought a young boy would be a great help on the farm. They do not, however, get the boy they expected.... they get Anne. Over the course of the novel, Anne changes their lives.... Matthew falls in love immediately.... he has a daughter and companion. Marilla is a bit tougher, but she too falls under Anne's spell, and what we end up with is a family.
